Two-Part Cold Applied System
Fosroc Thioflex 555 (Two-Part Cold Applied) The primary cold-applied sealant used by Shepherd & Sons, and the specified product for the majority of the aviation industry. A two-part chemical component polysulfide compound — mixed on site and cures in as little as 60 minutes, fast enough to allow aircraft operations to resume quickly with no downtime. Fuel and hydraulic resistant, leading to a long lifespan and job done right!
Two components are mixed on site and the compound cures rapidly — as little as 60 minutes in the machine grade — fast enough to allow aircraft operations to resume quickly. No liquid substance on the surface means no risk of ingestion by aircraft engines.

Fosroc Thioflex 555 Application
Two-part pump-and-mix application of Thioflex 555, delivered using a bespoke rig built in-house by Richard Shepherd for improved sealant flow, consistency, and operator control. Our full process:
- Existing sealant removed by diamond floor saw
- Waste bagged and disposed of in line with COSHH assessments
- Joint jet washed and surrounding area swept by lorry-mounted road sweeper
- Joint slot grit blasted
- Wire brushed to remove residual debris
- Force dried where required
- Bond breaker installed
- Concrete interfaces primed with Fosroc Primer 7E
- Joint sealed with Thioflex 555
- Sealant left to cure (30 minutes return to service)
- Area swept clean and handed back to the airport for operation
