Cold Applied Joint Sealing

Cold applied joint sealing uses sealants which are chemical compounds applied without heat. Fuel resistant, often grey in colour.

Three products: (concrete only)

Two-Part Cold Applied System

Fosroc Thioflex 555 (Two-Part Cold Applied) The primary cold-applied sealant used by Shepherd & Sons, and the specified product for the majority of the aviation industry.  A two-part chemical component polysulfide compound — mixed on site and cures in as little as 60 minutes, fast enough to allow aircraft operations to resume quickly with no downtime. Fuel and hydraulic resistant, leading to a long lifespan and job done right!

One-Part Cold Applied System

Sikaflex / Sea-Kar (One-Part Cold Applied) A one-part cold-applied sealant that cures by moisture over 24–48 hours. Lower material cost. Suitable for a project where an extended cure time is acceptable. Ideal for non-aviation environments, we offer alternatives to suit your budget and requirements.

Hand Applied

Hand Applied (Vertical Faces) A cold applied sealant specifically designed for vertical surfaces — sea walls, bridge stems, wall faces, and expansion joints on structures. Applied by hand or gun. Same cold-applied chemistry, adapted for vertical application.
