Surfacing Contractors in Sussex

Sussex is a straightforward run west from us. We work from Little Westerhill Farm on Westerhill Road in Linton, a few minutes south of Maidstone. That is where the plant lives and where a crew starts the day. East Sussex is reached along the A21 and the A272, West Sussex down the A23 and the M23, and both are inside a normal working day.

Sussex has given us a lot of structures work, and one job on this site is a Sussex one: the bridge jointing at Lyminster, a West Sussex village near Arundel, delivered under Breheny Civil Engineering. That job is a fair illustration of what the county asks for, because it needed two different sealants on one structure: Fosroc Thioflex 600 hand grade in the expansion joints, where real seasonal movement has to be followed, and Craftco N1 in the saw cut surface joints, where the requirement is a durable, level, trafficable finish.

The A23 and M23 corridor is the county's main artery and carries the traffic to Gatwick, which sits just inside West Sussex at Crawley. Airfield work has its own regime, and the discipline is set out under our aviation sector. Highway work along the corridor is the familiar pattern of night closures under Chapter 8: saw cutting for joint reforming and slab replacement, crack chasing and overbanding, and line marking once the surface is back.

Shoreham, Newhaven and the Sussex coastal towns bring port and marine-adjacent work, which behaves like our Kent estuary work: point loads, salt in the air, and a reinstatement detail that has to survive both. Inland, the county's commercial and public sector estate produces the same mix of car park, depot and building alteration work as anywhere else in the South East.
