Epoxy Line Marking

Epoxy is a solvent-based one-part paint primarily used for internal and aviation applications. It bonds strongly to concrete and asphalt, is resistant to fuels and oils, and does not chip or flake, making it safe for airside use. Also used in car parks, distribution centres, docks, and temporary public sector applications.

Epoxy suits markings that have to survive fuel, oil and wheel scuff on a hard standing: aircraft stands, warehouse and distribution centre floors, port yards and internal car parks. We apply it with a Graco LineLazer to chalk-line set-out, which is how the stand markings on an aircraft stand reconstruction and the 220 lorry bays at Purfleet container port were laid.

Preparation decides how long it lasts. Epoxy bonds into the surface it is laid on, so dust, the weak laitance layer on a power-floated floor, or a damp slab will take the marking off with them. That surface has to be clean, sound and dry before anything goes down.

It is not the answer to every job. On a long run of external road lining thermoplastic is quicker and cheaper per metre, and where a surface has to reopen within the hour MMA cures faster. The differences are set out in what is epoxy line marking?
