The Sectors We Work In

We do the same ten services in four very different places. The materials barely change between them. What changes completely is the access regime, the hours, and what happens if the surface is not right when it is handed back.

Airfield and aviation work is the sector the company grew out of. It is defined by its window rather than its scope: escorted access, an airside pass for every operative, a permit for every penetration, foreign object debris control strict enough to treat a single core plug as a hazard, and a pavement handed back serviceable before the first movement. Within it sit airfield line marking, airfield joint sealing and airfield ground lighting.

Highway work is bought as a night closure or a weekend possession under Chapter 8 traffic management, so the measure of it is how much of the programme is complete when the road reopens. Thermoplastic marking, joint sealing, crack chasing, overbanding and pavement repairs all appear, usually in combination on the same shift.

Port and quayside work puts the same techniques into a salt-laden atmosphere on surfaces carrying point loads nothing else does. Container yards, ro-ro ramps, quayside hardstanding and bunker areas all behave differently from a road, and the reinstatement detail around any opening matters more because of what the weather will do to it.

Public sector work for councils, highway authorities and public estates is bought against a specification and audited afterwards, so the records matter as much as the finish. Depots, car parks, schools, hospitals and civic buildings all fall here.
