Line Marking Contractors in Kent
We mark lines across Kent from our yard at Linton, a few minutes outside Maidstone. That is unusually close to the work: the M20, the M2 and the A20 are all within easy reach, and so are the airfields, ports and industrial estates that make up most of the county's marking work.
What gets marked in Kent
Highway marking on the county's trunk and local network, thermoplastic applied inside a night closure under Chapter 8 traffic management. Airfield marking, which is a different trade entirely and works to CAP 168 rather than to highway specification. Port and terminal marking at the Medway ports and the Thames Estuary terminals, where the layout is about vehicle circulation and container stacking rather than traffic law. And commercial work: retail and hospital car parks, school playgrounds, distribution warehouse floors and depot yards.
The county's own constraint
Kent's road network runs on Channel freight, and when the crossings back up the network changes shape. Operation Brock puts a contraflow on the M20 between junctions 8 and 9 and Dover TAP queues freight on the coastbound A20. For marking, which needs a dry surface, a closed lane and enough time for the material to cure and take traffic, that is a real scheduling risk rather than a background detail. It is why we build float into Kent highway programmes and why we would rather tell you a date is at risk than discover it on the night.
Materials, and picking the right one
Thermoplastic for highways and external asphalt, applied hot and screeded or sprayed. Epoxy for internal floors and airside work where a hard-wearing, fuel-resistant film matters. MMA where the closure is short, because it cures fast enough to reopen the same shift. Choosing on surface and available window rather than on price is what makes a marking last its expected life.
